The "peace rally" of the ruling Awami League`s three associate organisations began this afternoon at the south gate of Baitul Mukarram with cultural performances by Jubo League activists.
The rally was organized by the Jubo League, Secha Sebok League, and Chhatra League which began around 2:30pm.
Jubo League General Secretary Mominul Islam Nikhil, Chhatra League President Saddam Hossain, General Secretary Sheikh Wali Asif Inan and central leaders of Chhatra League were present at the rally.
AKM Shamim Osman, representative of Narayanganj-4 constituency, also attended the rally with his supporters.
After 12:00 p.m., leaders and activists began assembling at Baitul Mukarram`s south gate to participate in the "peace rally."
Apart from Narayanganj, party members came at the rally venue from Narsingdi, Gazipur, Savar, and Manikganj.
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader was the chief guest of the rally, and Jubo League Chairman Sheikh Fazle Shams Parsh presided over it.
The ruling Awami League had made arrangements for a large gathering to attend its "peace rally" near Baitul Mukarram`s south entrance.
